I don't remember the sound of that moment, but I can imagine it. What I do remember is the light. The smoke stained red, the smoke and the night. And the silhouette of the Dragon moving through the sparks, as if, for a few seconds, fire was the only thing that existed.

I have always been fascinated by the idea that, even in the midst of chaos, calm can still exist. Taken from behind the Dragon of Mataró during the Ball de Dracs of Les Santes, this photograph reveals a perspective that the audience rarely gets to see. The squares and streets disappear into the smoke, the sparks become the only source of light, and the Dragon seems to move towards another time. For a few moments, it ceases to be merely a festive bestiary figure and becomes the reflection of a living tradition, capable of conveying the same emotion from one generation to the next.

Who is Carinyo Foto?

Soc en Víctor, un jove mataroní de 23 anys graduat en Estudis Anglesos. Des de ben petit, he viscut Les Santes i les festes d’arreu de la ciutat amb molta felicitat, entusiasme i alegria. L’any 2009, en veure’m sempre gaudir tant dels gegants, el meu avi va decidir engegar un projecte: la construcció d’una nova figura per al barri. Amb molta dedicació i amor, va néixer la figura d’en Serranet i dos capgrossos, que va donar a l’Associació de Veïns del Camí de la Serra.

Anys després, en finalitzar els estudis d’ESO, la meva passió per la cultura mataronina em va portar a començar a gravar vídeos per pujar-los a les xarxes socials. El 28 de juliol de 2017 va néixer el meu canal de YouTube: Santeros!, i el compte d'Instagram. La resposta tan positiva que vaig començar a rebre per part del públic em va motivar a millorar la qualitat dels vídeos i l’edició d’aquests. Tot i que sempre he volgut passar desapercebut, ja són molts els que em reconeixen i em feliciten per la feina feta de manera desinteressada durant tots aquests anys. Amb el meu canal, només tinc un objectiu: que la gent que estima les tradicions i la cultura popular mataronina i
d’arreu, pugui gaudir-ne igual que jo gaudeixo gravant-ho.
