Montse Estrems i Maspoch

Montse Estrems i Maspoch

Title of the photo displayed at the Frèsia flower shop in Mataró:

Ball de quatre

Photo Description:

A photograph that, to me, represents Les Santes: the Robafaves Family occupying almost the entire frame and, in one corner, the people of Mataró, packed tightly together yet united, who, despite the heat, the tiredness, and the sweat, remain there watching them dance, with nothing else mattering for five days.

Who is Montse Estrem?

Montse Estrems is from Mataró, although she was born in Vilassar de Mar. She has been experiencing Les Santes for 39 years. This is how she describes herself:

I have experienced Les Santes in every possible way: as a child, as a young woman, as a mother, and through a mirror—my camera lenses.

Although I have always believed in the magic of freezing life's most memorable moments with a camera—a passion I learned at home from a very young age (thank you, Grandpa Quico and Grandpa Salvador)—I wasn't always sure I wanted to pursue it professionally. I studied many different subjects before finding my path in graphic design, which eventually led me to photography as well. It has only been a couple of years since I started building my own studio and dedicating myself to what I enjoy most. None of this would have been possible without the support of my wonderful family. Thank you.

As July 25th approaches, I always face the same dilemma: should I bring my camera, or should I leave it behind?

Should I experience Les Santes with my own eyes, or through the viewfinder, preserving those moments forever?

On this occasion, she shares a small glimpse of the way she has seen Les Santes over the years, captured through the lenses of her cameras.
