Today we want to introduce a very special project that has touched our hearts: the Colla Espantaocells de Mataró. 💛

Kiko’s dream

Behind the Colla Gegantera Espantaocells is Kiko, a young man on the autism spectrum who lives the city’s giants, capgrossos and traditions with admirable passion. Wanting to open doors and create a space for people with disabilities and different abilities, he has made his own project a reality.

The group’s figures

• The Espantaocells: a restored former giant of the Foment Mataroní.
• Pac-Man: a manotes giant designed by Kiko himself.
• La Tuerta: a capgròs that came all the way from Olite, Navarre.

The three figures visited the window of Espai Robafaves, where they spent a few days alongside our Giants of Mataró.

How can you help?

Kiko’s dream now is to keep the group growing, find more people who want to join and build a body for Pac-Man so it can dance through the city’s streets. And, like any new group, having a space to store the figures would be a great help.

If you’d like to join or lend a hand, message them on Instagram.

From Robafaves, congratulations, Kiko, on your enthusiasm, your perseverance and your wish to share what you love so much. Because when there is passion and the will to share, no barrier can stop a dream. 💛
