Who are the Diables Voramar?
At the end of 1988, a group of young people who took part in the processions of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Saint Peter in the Serrallo neighbourhood of Tarragona began gathering to promote traditional Catalan culture.
In 1990, with support from the neighbourhood, the Diables Voramar group was officially founded, with an identity blending fire and the sea.
Their costumes and pitchforks are inspired by seafaring attire, a tribute to their roots near the Port de la Vila, one of the most emblematic ports of the Mediterranean.
Today, the group has three sections:
- The Diables, who light up the streets with sparks
- La Víbria, a majestic fire beast
- La Vibrieta, its child-sized counterpart, created to grow the tradition from a young age
Thank you, Diables Voramar from Serrallo! 馃檶
