The Àliga de Mataró Dance (Eagle Dance) from Mataró City Hall
The Àliga of Mataró performing its own dance, filmed from Mataró City Hall in 2019.
The Àliga of Mataró, documented since 1601, was revived in 1987. It was built by Solsona sculptor Manuel Casserras in just four months. It wears a crown, has half-spread wings and carries a dove in its beak.
The Àliga dances a choreography by Montserrat Calsapeu to the Ball de l’Àliga, a piece from the archive of the Abbey of Montserrat performed by the Ministrils de Mataró. It begins with a stately walk and ends with a deep bow.
