At Espai Robafaves, we continue bringing Catalan popular culture closer to the city's youngest visitors. This time, we are welcoming a very special figure: El Cabró de Les Franqueses, the fire beast of Els Encendraires de Les Franqueses del Vallès.

A figure full of identity, history and fire that arrives in Mataró during a very special year: in 2025, El Cabró celebrates its 20th anniversary.

Who are Els Encendraires?

Els Encendraires was founded in 1995 from a municipal youth centre in Les Franqueses del Vallès. Since then, the group has built a history shaped by fire, celebration and a strong commitment to Catalan popular culture.

Ten years after the group was founded, in 2005, Els Encendraires unveiled a fire beast that would eventually become one of their most recognisable symbols: El Cabró.

An old goat skull and the origins of El Cabró

The figure has a rather unusual origin. It all began with the discovery of an old goat skull at the group's headquarters. This unexpected find became the inspiration for a new fire beast that would represent Els Encendraires and give the group a distinctive identity of its own.

And so El Cabró was born, making its debut in 2005 to mark the group's tenth anniversary. Over the years, the figure has become a much-loved symbol and one of the festive icons of Les Franqueses del Vallès.

20 years of fire

Its visit to Espai Robafaves is no coincidence. In 2025, we celebrate 20 years since El Cabró made its debut, and at Robafaves.cat we wanted to join the celebration with this small tribute, bringing the figure to Mataró so that children and adults alike can discover it up close.

One of the highlights of the anniversary celebrations will take place on 7 June 2025 in Les Franqueses del Vallès, with a major gathering of fire beasts from across Catalonia.

A fantastic opportunity to see El Cabró where it is at its most spectacular: surrounded by fire, sparks and popular culture.
