Last Tuesday, we fulfilled a dream we had had since we were children.

We had the privilege of visiting Pilarín Bayés’ studio and spending some time with her. One of those moments that flies by and that you know you will remember for the rest of your life.

There is a kind of wealth that isn’t kept in a bank

People often ask us whether Robafaves has made us rich.

And from now on, we’ll say yes.

Because there is a kind of wealth that isn’t kept in a bank, but in our memories.

The kind that reminds us that all the effort, the hours of dedication and the sacrifices are worth it.

Without even realising it, that afternoon could be summed up in three words: culture, fun and tradition.

An afternoon with Pilarín

We talked about drawing, our country, Mataró and everything we are passionate about.

We shared a little afternoon snack with the traditional Les Santes sweets we had brought for her, while she welcomed us into her home with that special way she has of making you feel welcome.

And we laughed a lot. Because there is a kind of joy that is very difficult to fake: the joy of someone who, after a lifetime, still loves what she does.

That day, we realised that behind every drawing there is a person of immense generosity. And perhaps that is why she is loved by so many people.

Some gestures are impossible to forget

When we got into the car to leave, she was still there, standing in the courtyard of her home, saying goodbye with a smile and waving until we disappeared down the street.

Sometimes the smallest gestures tell you everything about a truly remarkable person.
