The Drac de Mataró, wings spread and claws ready, advances imposingly along Carrer Argentona as it does every July 27th. Trying to capture unique moments that often go unnoticed. The comparsa crossing the cloud of smoke from the Dragalió, as the sun timidly tries to break through. A result that brings back that unmistakable caloreta santera, carrying the scent of gunpowder that makes Les Santes truly Les Santes—what makes us long for Mataró’s big week. A photograph that serves as a window, a portal to the past, but above all, a moment that makes the wait for the next July 27th even more beautiful.

Who is David Cortés DCH?

David Cortés, known as DCH on social media, is a 21-year-old multidisciplinary artist currently studying for a Fine Arts degree at the University of Barcelona. Born and raised in Mataró, he has always remained close to his local popular culture, camera in hand, with which he tells us: “I try to express through photography what Mataró’s culture makes me feel and the passion it awakens in me”.
