As a child, I always looked forward to Les Santes and seeing the Giants of Mataró and the other figures of the Festa Major back on the streets. Of all of them, there was one that always caught my attention: Robafaves.

I'm Ferran Muñoz i Pérez, a graphic designer and the creator and creative director of Robafaves. At home, I grew up with a love for the Giants, Les Santes and Mataró's popular culture. Over the years, that passion also found its way into my work as a designer.

How Robafaves began

Robafaves began in 2010 after I entered an alternative Les Santes poster competition organised by El Tot Mataró magazine. I submitted an illustration of Robafaves. I didn't win the competition, but that illustration became the starting point for the project.

After Robafaves came the rest of the figures from Mataró's festive groups: the Geganta, Toneta, Maneló, the Diablesses, Drac, Dragalió, Momerota, Momeroteta, Basilisc and Àliga.

What began with a single illustration gradually grew. Since 2010, Robafaves has worked to bring the Giants of Mataró, Les Santes and the city's popular culture closer to children and adults throughout the year.

Espai Robafaves

In 2021, we opened Espai Robafaves at 7 Carrer de Montserrat, Mataró. It is our physical space and is dedicated to the Giants of Mataró, Les Santes and the city's popular culture.

Here you can find our products, as well as a space designed to keep Mataró's festive figures present beyond the days of the Festa Major.

Espai Robafaves received an award at the 7th Mostra d’Arquitectura del Maresme.

The Robafaves Capgròs

In 2025, we added our own figure to the project: the Robafaves.cat Capgròs, created as a tribute to the giant that gave the project its name.

To bring it to life, we worked with Taller Casserras. Under the direction of Sessa, the workshop created the capgròs while retaining some of the features that visually connect it to the world of Robafaves.

Taller Casserras has a long-standing connection with Mataró's festive figures. Its founder, Manel Casserras i Boix, worked on figures including Robafaves, the Geganta, Toneta, Maneló, Àliga and Drac.

Collaborations

Robafaves also collaborates with organisations and initiatives in the city. We provide our illustrations free of charge to Mataró City Council for the games on the interactive screens at the Tourist Office.

We have also collaborated with Abacus and Biblioteca Iluro on activities that introduce children to the Giants of Mataró and the figures of Les Santes through our illustrations.
