NO TRES TOMBS, BUT CAVALLETS AND IDENTITY AT ESPAI ROBAFAVES 馃惔
When tradition doesn’t march through the streets, we embrace it from within
In 2024, the Mataró City Council has decided not to hold Tres Tombs… 馃ゲ
A sad announcement for all of us who love the living traditions and popular culture of our city.
But at Robafaves.cat, we believe one thing very clearly: those who lose their roots, lose their identity. That’s why, from Espai Robafaves, we’ve created our own version of Tres Tombs, featuring one of the city’s most beloved festive figures: the Cavallets de Mataró.
馃搮 On display until February 3, 2024. Don’t miss the chance to see this themed showcase that keeps the spirit of the celebration alive—even if the drums fall silent this year.
A tribute to the Cavallets de Mataró 馃惔
With this exhibit, we want to pay a small yet heartfelt tribute to the Cavallets de Mataró, an essential part of our festive imagination.
These festive horses were built in 1992 at the legendary Taller Ingenio in Barcelona, famous for giving life to many giants, beasts, and figures of Catalan folk culture.
The project was commissioned by the Entitat Folklòrica Catalana de Mataró, and since then the Cavallets have joyfully trotted through the city’s streets during many local celebrations.
Through our themed display, we want their spirit to keep galloping… even if the drums don’t echo this year.
Culture, joy and tradition… always!
At Robafaves.cat, we remain committed to keeping Mataró’s traditions alive—whether through giants, fire beasts, or festive horses.
Because celebration doesn’t only happen in the streets… it also lives deep in our hearts.
