Quiénes somos — Ferran Muñoz, creador de Robafaves
As a child, the festival felt like magic. The Giants of Mataró and the beasts of Les Santes danced to the rhythm of a city that loves its popular culture. For me, that magic had a name and a face: Robafaves.
I’m Ferran Muñoz i Pérez, a graphic designer, creator and creative director of Robafaves. At home, I was taught to look beyond the cardboard and wood: to discover the history and soul that each figure carries within. That love became a project. And the project became a community.
How Robafaves began
Robafaves was born in 2010, following an alternative poster competition for Les Santes organised by El Tot Mataró magazine. I entered with an illustration of Robafaves. I didn’t win — but sometimes not winning opens other doors.
The response from the public was so positive that the project continued to grow. We illustrated not only Robafaves, but all the other figures from Mataró’s festive groups: the Geganta, Toneta, Maneló, the Diablesses, the Drac, Dragalió, Momerota, Momeroteta, Basilisc and Àliga. What began as a poster has grown into a cultural platform where the figures of Les Santes are at the heart of everything we do.
Espai Robafaves
In 2021, we opened Espai Robafaves, our physical space at 7 Carrer de Montserrat, Mataró, dedicated entirely to the Giants of Mataró and Les Santes. It is not a conventional shop — it is an experience. Everyone who walks through the door discovers and experiences Mataró’s festive imagery in their own way.
The space received an award at the 7th Mostra d’Arquitectura del Maresme.
The Robafaves Capgròs
In 2025, we made a long-held dream come true: the Robafaves.cat Capgròs. It is more than just a figure — it is a symbol. A tribute to the giant that inspires us.
To bring it to life, we entrusted the project to Taller Casserras, which, under Sessa’s direction, created a unique piece with a character of its own. Taller Casserras knows the spirit of Mataró well: its founder, Manel Casserras i Boix, renewed Robafaves, the Geganta, Toneta, Maneló, the Àliga and the Drac.

Collaborations
Every year, we collaborate with the Ajuntament de Mataró, providing our illustrations free of charge to the tourist office for games featured on the city’s interactive screens. We also collaborate on specific projects with Abacus and Biblioteca Iluro, helping children discover the Giants of Mataró through our illustrations.
