Correfoc Cape

Robafaves correfoc capes are designed for children and adults and made mainly from 100% heavyweight cotton. Available in designs inspired by the Diablesses de Mataró and the Drac de Mataró, they are designed and made in Mataró for experiencing correfocs, Les Santes and Catalan popular culture.

Each correfoc cape combines a black outer fabric weighing 400 g/m² with a 160 g/m² cotton inner fabric, creating a thick and durable garment available in different children’s and adult sizes.

Correfoc cape for children and adults

Our correfoc capes for children and adults are available in three sizes. The age ranges are only a guide, so we recommend checking the cape length before choosing a size.

  • Small: approximately 3 to 6 years. Length: 60 cm from the back of the neck to the bottom of the cape.
  • Medium: approximately 7 to 9 years. Length: 76.5 cm from the back of the neck to the bottom of the cape.
  • Large (Adult): approximately age 10 to adult. Length: 1 metre from the back of the neck to the bottom of the cape.

Materials and construction

The capes are made from two layers of cotton: a black outer fabric weighing 400 g/m² and a 160 g/m² inner fabric. This combination creates a thick and durable garment designed for both children and adults.

The Drac and Diablesses de Mataró designs are sublimation printed onto small pieces of polyester, which are then embroidered and sewn onto the cape. The rest of the cape is made from 100% cotton.

Two designs inspired by Mataró’s fire tradition

You can choose between two correfoc cape designs, both inspired by fire figures and groups from Les Santes.

Diablesses de Mataró correfoc cape: a black and red design featuring the characteristic horns inspired by the Diablesses, an embroidered Diablessa figure and a red flame.

Drac de Mataró correfoc cape: a black and green design featuring a crest inspired by the Drac, an embroidered Drac figure and a green tail on the back.

Is a correfoc cape flame-resistant?

No. Our correfoc capes are not flame-resistant and have not received a flame-retardant treatment. They are made mainly from 100% heavyweight cotton, but any fabric can burn or become damaged when exposed directly to flames, sparks or sources of heat.

For this reason, a correfoc cape does not replace the safety measures or instructions provided by the organisers of each event. Always follow the event’s safety recommendations and wear appropriate clothing and footwear.

How to choose your correfoc cape size

When choosing a correfoc cape for a child or adult, we recommend using the length of the garment as the main reference rather than relying only on age.

Measure downwards from the back of the neck and compare the result with the three available lengths: 60 cm, 76.5 cm or 1 metre. This will help you choose the most suitable size.

How to wash a correfoc cape

We recommend washing the cape separately at a maximum of 30 °C without bleach. It can be ironed at a maximum of 150 °C, avoiding direct contact with the embroidery and appliqués.

Correfoc capes and Les Santes de Mataró

Fire is one of the great protagonists of Les Santes, Mataró’s Festa Major. The Diablesses, Drac, Dragalió, Momerota and Momeroteta take part in many of the fire and popular culture events that fill the city’s streets.

Robafaves capes draw inspiration from this tradition to create two designs closely connected to Mataró and its popular culture, available for both children and adults.
