What is the Drac of Mataró?

The Drac of Mataró is a fire figure from the city’s popular culture and takes part in several events during Les Santes de Mataró, the city’s Festa Major.

It was presented on 20 April 1991 and built by Manel Casserres. Its appearance was inspired by the winged dragon depicted on Robafaves’ helmet.

The figure has eight fixed fire points and a mechanism that allows it to emit fire from its mouth. It is carried by one person and has its own group that accompanies it during performances.
