Who is Toneta of Mataró?

Toneta is the daughter of Robafaves and Geganta and is part of the Família Robafaves, one of the main groups taking part in Les Santes de Mataró.

Her origins are traditionally dated to 1853. The name Toneta derives from «gegantona» or «gegantoneta», terms used for a figure smaller than the giants.

By 1957, Toneta already appeared with the long blonde hair that characterises her image. She dresses in shades of pink and lilac and, like Geganta, carries a bouquet of fresh flowers while holding her skirt with her other hand.

Toneta is part of the Família Robafaves together with Robafaves, Geganta and Maneló, some of the best-known Giants of Mataró.
